FEBRUARY & MARCH

FEATURED ARTIST: Ron Milhoan
My drawings are a direct representation of where I am at the
time. I carry a sketchbook most days and enjoy the immediacy.
My paintings come out of this same process. I use color
to express luminosity, and abstract patterns to camouflage the
narrative. This ambiguity creates the mystery.

RACHEL HOUSEMAN

Abiquiu Inn presents a solo exhibit by artist Rachel Houseman

August of 2016
Opening Saturday, August 6th 6-8pm At the Abiquiu Inn, Upstairs Gallery

Rachel Houseman is an artist who has a truly original style that is both familiar and new, modern yet timeless. The artist is inspired by the colorists, such as the likes of Georgia O'Keeffe, Keith Crown, and David Hockney; as well as many of the artists from the post-impressionist, pop art, and psychedelic eras of art. Rachel has been exploring the use of color to inspire the viewer with a sense of mystery that dwells within the desert and its offerings of sensual colors and light. She is inspired by real experiences in nature and most of her paintings are created Plein Air, meaning that she has brought the canvas onsite to draw from real locations. Rachel has exhibited in may galleries through out the Southwest including Gallery Andrea in Scottsdale, AZ and has also showing in many juried art shows including: the Beverly Hills Garden Show, The Moab Plein Air Festival, the Arizona Fine Art Expo, The La Jolla Festival of the Arts, The Great Fair in Fountain Hills and the Mission Federal Artwalk in San Diego. Rachel is the founder of Eye on the Mountain Art Gallery, featuring several artist with the themes of sacred and visionary art as the gallery inspiration. Her studio is also located at her gallery, which is found at 614 Agua Fria Street in Santa Fe , NM. Rachel is a full time artist and art therapist and feels that art is an essential part of human survival, and that it is not just for enjoyment, but for purpose and fulfillment. She also knows that color is a natural healer. Rachel continues to inspire through her expressions in bright hues. Her adventurous use of bold, spontaneous lines and confident, playful brushwork is so unique, you cannot mistake it.
