The Great Outdoors surrounding Abiquiu can fill several weeks of adventures from hiking ancient trails, horseback riding through red rock canyons, rafting the Chama River, or boating on the surrounding lakes. BOATING & SWIMMING

Take a refreshing dip in the cool waters of Abiquiu Lake, rent a boat and explore the shoreline or travel to Lake Heron or EL Vado Lake located 1 hours’ drive from Abiquiu Inn.

HIKING & ABIQUIU NATURE

Employ your bipedal form of motion and travel at the speed of human. Traverse ancient trails & historic routes, explore the set of several western movies at Ghost Ranch, stroll along the river and marvel at the surreal landscapes of the valley. Get out and explore!

HORSEBACK ABIQUIU

Experience authentic horsemanship at In-Sync with Horses or explore Ghost Ranch on a horseback trail ride. Healing Through Horses offers group and individual sessions to help women connect with an inner source of strength and spirit.

Join FAR FLUNG ADVENTURES on the Rio Chama, America’s Newest Wild and Scenic River. Float 10 miles of the Rio Chama River, beginning near the tranquil setting of the Christ in the Desert Monastery and ending at the head of Abiquiu Reservoir.

Abiquiu Lake can be excellent for Walleye, Small Mouth Bass, Rainbow and Brown Trout. Fish the Rio Chama for trout above the lake or below the Dam.
Several Hunt areas are located in the national forests around Abiquiu Inn.

ATV & 4-WHEEL

Hundreds of miles of off road trails exist around Abiquiu Inn in the Santa Fe & Caron National Forests. Park a few miles from Abiquiu Inn at a trailhead and ride to the continental divide!
