Creative Retreats/Workshops for Artists and Writers

The Abiquiu Workshops has partnered with The Abiquiu Inn to create a new Lecture Series. The programs will be held in the Galleria Arriba located at The Abiquiu Inn. The purpose of the program is to provide a setting for an exchange of creative ideas and knowledge as well as fascination and entertainment.

Abiquiu Lecture Series 2011

The Abiquiu Workshops has partnered with The Abiquiu Inn to create a new Lecture Series. The programs will be held in the Galleria Arriba located at The Abiquiu Inn. The purpose of the program is to provide a setting for an exchange of creative ideas and knowledge as well as fascination and entertainment. The lectures will be held every first Thursday of the month at 7:00 p.m. beginning June 2nd and ending November 3rd, 2011.

The Lecture Series of 6 programs, with one special walking tour by Douglas Johnson, will include internationally renowned Artists, Writers, Scientists, Historians and Photographers most with local Northern New Mexico connections and experiences. The lecture series is free and open to the public. Call The Abiquiu Inn and reserve a seat if you wish to attend 505-685-4378. For those who would like dinner before the lecture, please arrive by 5:30 p.m.

June 2nd
"In Search of Dominguez & Escalante" - Greg MacGregor and Siegfried Halus. Book signing with image presentation.
July 7th
Ceramic Sculpture / Glazes - Jim Romberg and Painting - Lynette Jennings. Lecture with image presentation.
August 4th
"Georgia O’Keeffe in Abiquiu" - Judy (Pieta) Lopez. Lecture on Georgia O’Keeffe’s life.
September 1st
Painting with reference to William Blake - Alexandra Eldridge. Lecture with image presentation.
September 10th
Special walking tour lecture with Douglas Johnson into the Poshuoinue Ruins, Abiquiu, New Mexico. Please call The Abiquiu Inn @ 505-685.4378 to make reservation. Departure time from The Abiquiu Inn parking lot 10:00 a.m. (Bring hiking shoes, hats and water.)
October 6th
"Life on the Rocks" One Woman’s Adventures in Petroglyph Preservation - Katherine Wells. Lecture with image presentation.
November 3rd
"The Coronado Expedition" – 26 Giclée prints from exquisite gouache painting - Douglas Johnson. Gallery Opening Reception 5:30 p.m. Lecture with image presentation following opening.
